Design a personalised and engaging plan that helps users reduce their intake of animal products

Problem

STEP 1  / stakeholder interview, business analysis, secondary research, survey (70 responses), user interviews (8), affinity diagram, user persona, user journey, problem statement

Good Humans is a coaching app that helps people develop a more sustainable way of life. My challenge was to design one of the improvement plans: reducing animal product consumption.

Why people want to reduce animal product intake

environmental concerns
health, animal well-being, money

Why people still eat animal products

they like the taste of meat
it’s easier to cook it
they have been eating it their whole life
it’s difficult to change habits
they don’t have enough time
they don’t want to put on weight
alternatives are not easily accessible

Solution

STEP 2  / ideation, user flow, lo-fi prototype, concept testing, mid-fi prototype, usability testing, style guide, hi-fi prototype

Veggie Day is a personalised and easy to follow plan that helps eco-responsible people reduce their intake of animal products. Its main components:

one big challenge divided into daily goals
daily goal – a day without animal products
easy tasks to help achieve the goal – short articles and quizzes (how to replace animal products, calculate amount of proteins needed, or talk about it with friends, etc.), simple recipes (tailored to preferences, cooking skills and diet), and a list of vegan take-aways and restaurants
direct and measurable environmental impact – saving water, land, animal life and reducing greenhouse gas emissions
measurable progress – points for each task, a challenge progress bar, and a daily goal counter
